Baile Bagels & Brews: A New Gathering Place
On October 21, Baile Bagels & Brews celebrated its official opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by over 100 guests, including local officials and community members. This new cafe and bar is more than a dining venue; it is a family-run business rooted in the Keene family’s dedication to community and tradition. “Baile,” meaning “home” in Gaelic, captures the essence of this welcoming establishment.
Baile Bagels & Brews provides freshly made bagels using authentic New York-style dough for a true grab-and-go experience, alongside self-serve coffee stations designed for morning convenience. The venue transforms into a relaxed bar in the evening, offering a historic 100-year-old bar setting where patrons can enjoy meals, local beer from the in-house “Baile Cask & Kettle” brand, and catch a game with friends.
This new spot also marks a milestone for the historic Updegraff building, which has undergone a $7.5 million renovation by Blackthorn Capital Partners to create upscale residential units above the storefront, revitalizing this part of the Hagerstown Cultural Trail.
