Upon review, officials confirmed that the incorrect names appeared for some voters with surnames beginning with the letters A and B. The Board of Elections has announced plans to send new sample ballots, ensuring that all 684,000 active registered voters receive a corrected version. This revised sample ballot will be sent via U.S. mail.
In addition to the corrected mailing, an electronic version of the correct sample ballot has already been emailed to voters for whom the Board has an email address on file.

The Board of Elections has emphasized that this name discrepancy is limited solely to the sample ballots. It does not impact mail-in voting, voter registration information, or the accuracy of ballot data. Voters who wish to verify their registration details can do so by texting ‘CHECK’ to 77788, visiting the website 777vote.org, or contacting the Board at elections@montgomerycountymd.gov or 240-777-8500.
Separately, an error was found in the Spanish-language version of one sample ballot page, which incorrectly listed the dates for early voting. The correct early voting period runs from Thursday, October 24, through Thursday, October 31.
