Hagerstown Baseball Team Finalists for Names Revealed for New Downtown Ballpark

HAGERSTOWN, MD News (6/21/2023) – Excitement is in the air as the finalists for the Hagerstown Baseball Team’s name have been unveiled. The team, set to play in a state-of-the-art downtown ballpark as part of the esteemed Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, has generated a buzz among fans and residents alike. After an extensive selection process, five potential names have emerged as contenders, promising to reflect the spirit and character of this vibrant Maryland city.

The ownership group of Hagerstown’s new Minor League Baseball team has taken a community-focused approach, soliciting suggestions from local residents and fans to ensure that the team’s name resonates with the city’s identity. From a vast array of ideas, the finalists were meticulously narrowed it down to the top five choices, each with its own unique flair. The finalists are as follows:

• Diezel Dogs
• Flying Boxcars
• Haymakers
• Tin Lizards

Fans, residents, and baseball enthusiasts will be encouraged to participate in an online poll through Herald-Mail to express their preference for the team’s name.
