Local Artist Michael Maginnis to Showcase Latest Collection in Pop-up Exhibition

HAGERSTOWN, MD News (1/26/2023) – Local artist Michael Maginnis is set to showcase his latest collection of art in a pop-up exhibition titled Luminant Compendium. The two-day event will take place on March 10th and 11th at Suite 121 of the Mulberry Lofts on 22 North Mulberry Street.

Maginnis, who graduated from Frostburg State University in 2002 with an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts, has been creating and exploring novel ideas since his graduation and continues to find ways to bring people together through his art. This will be his fourth solo exhibition in Hagerstown, with his last one being held 14 years ago.

The exhibition will feature a diverse range of art forms, including 3D printed sculptural pieces, stained glass and canvas paintings, ceramics, decorative furniture, and photography prints. There will also be works from a special featured artist.

When asked about the theme of his exhibition, Maginnis stated, “It’s all about the light for me. Either shining out or reflecting, light changes so much of our experience seeing the world. The relative dark mood and outlook of my youth has given way to gratitude for a world full of splendor. I would like very much for people to see it the way I do, if only for a little while.”

The opening reception will take place on Friday, March 10th from 5-8pm, with light refreshments being served and no specific attire required. The exhibition will also be open to the public on Saturday, March 11th from 9am-5pm.

Those interested in learning more about the exhibit or Maginnis’ artwork can reach him by email at remowil@aol.com. Luminant Compendium promises to be a unique and captivating exhibition that explores the role of light in shaping our perception of the world.
