SMITHSBURG, MD News (8/22/2022) – The town of Smithsburg will hold a special session Tuesday evening to discuss the pending camera system upgrade, which has been problematic since August 9th’s vote to purchase the camera system while bypassing the competitive bid process.
According to the agenda for Tuesday, August 23, the special session will take place immediately following the scheduled work session at 7 pm.
The special session will have two parts – a closed session, and an open session.
The closed executive session is listed as Article 3-305(b) of the Annotated Code of Maryland, Section (8) to “consult with staff, consultants, or other individuals about pending or potential litigation”.
Following the closed session will be an open session to discuss “Discussion Camera System Upgrades Contract/RFP”
The meeting will take place at the Town Hall on the second floor of 21 W Water Street in Smithsburg.
While the closed session will not be open to the public, the open session discussing the camera system will be open to the public, and is also typically available on the town’s Facebook page.
More information about the meeting is available on the town website.
