A Carlisle, Pennsylvania, resident has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of a U.S. Army Reservist during a firearms training exercise at the Letterkenny Army Depot. The charge was announced by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
Sean Stark, 38, of Carlisle, is accused of gross negligence during firearms training that resulted in the death of Private First Class Krystofer Lopez on March 12, 2026.

In response to the charges, Stark has entered into a plea agreement. This agreement indicates that Stark will forgo a formal indictment process and intends to plead guilty to the charge. A court hearing will be scheduled for Stark to formally enter his plea in accordance with the agreement.

The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division led the investigation into the incident. If convicted of involuntary manslaughter, Stark could face a maximum sentence of eight years imprisonment.
