A significant portion of the meeting will be dedicated to an in-depth analysis of the most recent Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) results. This review will provide an opportunity to understand student performance across various subjects and grade levels, informing future educational strategies and interventions. The session will also include a stakeholder engagement segment with representatives from the Maryland State Education Association (MSEA), allowing for direct input from educators on current issues and proposed changes.

The State Board has indicated its commitment to public participation, offering opportunities for individuals to provide comment both in person and virtually. Registration for public comment is managed on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limited number of slots available for each session. A total of 15 individuals can register to speak, with up to 10 accommodated in the morning and five in the afternoon. Those who register after the maximum capacity is reached will be placed on a waiting list. The deadline for registration was Friday, August 21, at 11:59 p.m., with interested parties required to complete an online form. Confirmed registrants will be notified, and each speaker’s comment is limited to three minutes and monitored by staff.
