The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of approximately 210 Vanderhall Brawley GTS electric recreational off-highway vehicles (ROVs) due to a defect that can cause the vehicle to maintain speed or accelerate unexpectedly, even when the accelerator pedal is released. This malfunction presents a significant risk of crashes, potentially leading to serious injuries or fatalities.

Vanderhall North America is offering a remedy for the affected vehicles, which involves a software update. Owners are strongly advised to immediately stop using their recalled ROVs. To resolve the hazard, consumers need to update their vehicle’s firmware to version 7.1.0, which was made available on April 15, 2026. This update can be performed through the Vanderhall customer mobile app. The company has stated that the updated software is identifiable by the Vanderhall logo. For consumers who require assistance with the firmware update process, Vanderhall recommends contacting their local dealer or Vanderhall directly. Further information and instructions can be obtained by contacting Vanderhall North America via email at inquiry@vanderhallusa.com or by visiting their website and navigating to the “Contact” or “Safety Notices” sections, referencing “Vanderhall North America, LLC Recalls Motor Software Update.” Although no injuries have been reported in connection with this issue, the manufacturer has received one report of a vehicle unexpectedly accelerating.
