Maryland Consumers May Receive Refunds Following Settlement with Lindsay Dealerships

Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown is notifying consumers who purchased vehicles from specific Lindsay dealerships that they may be eligible for significant refunds. The claims process has now commenced, stemming from a settlement reached between the Maryland Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division, the Federal Trade Commission, and Lindsay Ford of Wheaton, Maryland; Lindsay Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram in Manassas, Virginia; and Lindsay Chevrolet in Woodbridge, Virginia. The settlement addresses civil charges brought against these dealerships, their parent companies, and several of their officers.

Consumers who purchased vehicles from the aforementioned Lindsay dealerships may be able to claim refunds for any amounts paid above the advertised price of their vehicles. Additionally, customers of Lindsay Ford who purchased add-on products or services, such as vehicle service plans, maintenance plans, paint protection, or GAP insurance, may also be eligible for refunds. This eligibility extends to those who either did not agree to purchase these extras or mistakenly believed they were mandatory for vehicle acquisition. The settlement, initially announced on April 2, 2026, aims to provide restitution to consumers who may have been overcharged or misled regarding additional purchases.

Eligible consumers will receive claim forms by mail from Rust Consulting, the designated claims administrator for this case. It is imperative that consumers carefully check their mail for these important documents. Once received, consumers will have a period of 180 days from the mailing date of their claim form to submit their application. Attorney General Brown urges all potential claimants to be vigilant in checking their postal deliveries.
