Approximately 5,543 CCCEI-branded power strips sold online by Middle Way Electronics are subject to a recall due to a significant fire risk. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall, which stems from the absence of supplementary overcurrent protection in the power strips. This deficiency means that if the power strips are overloaded, they can overheat, posing a substantial risk of fire, which could lead to serious injury or death.

The recalled power strips are identifiable by their black metal enclosure, six receptacles, and individual on/off switches for each outlet. They were available with 6-foot, 10-foot, and 15-foot power cords. A white label on the back of the units contains cautionary information, including instructions to use only indoors in dry locations and not to plug into other relocatable power taps or extension cords. The product was sold on Amazon.com between April 2024 and January 2026, with prices ranging from $23 to $30. Middle Way Electronics, based in China, is the retailer associated with this recall.
Consumers who have purchased these CCCEI power strips are advised to immediately cease using them. To receive a full refund, individuals should contact Middle Way Electronics directly via email at CCCEIpowerstrips@outlook.com. While two reports of the power strips sparking and melting have been received by the company, no fires or injuries have been reported to date in connection with this specific recall. The recall number is 26-346. This action follows a previous Product Safety Warning issued on March 5, 2026.
The absence of adequate overcurrent protection in electronic devices like power strips is a critical safety concern. Overloading a power strip, which can happen when too many high-wattage appliances are plugged in simultaneously, generates excess heat. Without a built-in safety mechanism to interrupt the flow of electricity, this heat can escalate, potentially igniting nearby flammable materials and leading to a fire. Consumers should be aware that using recalled products can expose them and their households to unnecessary risks. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) emphasizes the importance of heeding recall notices to prevent injuries and property damage.
