Hilstolsky pleaded guilty to theft by a credit union employee in December 2025. Her crime occurred on October 15, 2018, when she was still employed by WOD Federal Credit Union. During her guilty plea, Hilstolsky admitted to taking $16,247 from the credit union’s teller drawer and safe. To conceal her actions, she falsely claimed that the money had been stolen by two unidentified armed robbers. Hilstolsky further admitted to contacting emergency services and providing false information to investigators, stating that the credit union had been robbed. In reality, she had taken the funds and hidden them within the credit union premises, intending to remove them at a later, safer time.
The investigation into this case was a collaborative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Forty Fort Police Department. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney James M. Buchanan. Residents of the Luzerne County area, particularly those who may have been members of the WOD Federal Credit Union, are reminded of the importance of financial integrity and the consequences of such criminal acts.
