The Independent Investigations Division (IID) of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General has identified the individual who died in a police-involved shooting on March 1, 2026, in Columbia, Howard County, Maryland. The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Alexander Lamorie of Columbia. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the IID is seeking information from the public, including any available surveillance or cell phone video footage.
The Howard County Police Department officers involved in the shooting have also been identified. These officers include Joel Rodriguez, who has served for two years, Cody Bostic, a six-year veteran, and PFC Joseph Riebau, a ten-year veteran. All three officers are part of the Field Operations Command. The IID has stated that the officers were equipped with body-worn cameras that captured the incident. The division typically releases body-worn camera footage within 20 business days of an event. However, this timeline may be extended in certain circumstances, such as the need for additional witness interviews, technical challenges in obscuring the identities of civilian witnesses, or to allow family members an opportunity to review the footage before its public release.
Individuals who possess any information pertinent to this investigation are encouraged to contact the IID directly. The division can be reached by phone at (410) 576-7070 or via email at IID@oag.maryland.gov.
