Franklin County in Pennsylvania is now accepting applications for its “We Support You Scholarship,” a program designed to provide financial assistance to the children of local veterans pursuing higher education. The initiative, announced by the Franklin County Commissioners and the County Office of Veterans Affairs, aims to award up to five one-time scholarships of $1,000 each.

This scholarship opportunity is open to high school seniors who are residents of Franklin County and have gained admission to an accredited institution of higher learning. Eligibility criteria include a minimum grade point average of 2.5, active participation in extracurricular activities and community service, and demonstrated financial need. Applicants are required to submit a completed scholarship application along with three letters of recommendation, one of which must be from their high school guidance counselor, in addition to other specified documentation. The deadline for all application submissions is 4:30 p.m. on March 30. A committee comprised of local professionals and Franklin County representatives will be responsible for selecting the scholarship recipients and determining the award amounts.
Information and application forms for the scholarship can be obtained from high school guidance counselors within the county. They are also accessible online through the official Franklin County website at www.franklincountypa.gov/apply-file-for. Additionally, prospective applicants can visit the Franklin County Office of Veterans Affairs, located at 425 Franklin Farm Lane in Chambersburg, during regular business hours to pick up the necessary materials. The “We Support You Scholarship” is funded through donations to the Franklin County Veterans Affairs Outreach Fund.
