The investigation identified a single batch of moringa leaf powder, identified by Batch No.: VFD/ORG/MORP/L/24 with a best-by date of November 2027, as the source of contamination. This ingredient was used in several products that have since been recalled. Consumers are urged to check their homes for these recalled items and to discard them or return them to the place of purchase. Affected products include Food To Live brand Organic Moringa Leaf Powder and Organic Supergreens Powder Mix, bearing lot codes ranging from “SO-69006” through “SO-72558” in various sizes. Organic Moringa Leaf Powder sold on Africa Imports’ website (africaimports.com) after June 5, 2025, is also subject to recall. Additionally, all Member’s Mark Super Greens dietary supplement powder, irrespective of lot code or best-by date, has been recalled.
The outbreak resulted in 11 reported illnesses across seven states: Florida, Kansas, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Illnesses began between May 12, 2025, and September 4, 2025. Of the affected individuals, three required hospitalization, though no deaths were reported. Symptoms of Salmonella infection typically appear within 12 to 72 hours of consumption and include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps, usually lasting four to seven days. Individuals with weakened immune systems, young children, and the elderly are at higher risk for severe complications.
Recalled Food To Live products were distributed nationwide through retail, wholesale, and direct online sales, including on platforms like Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Target, Etsy, and eBay. Bulk quantities were also supplied to other food manufacturers. Organic Moringa Leaf Powder from Africa Imports was sold via its website, and Member’s Mark Super Greens powder was available at Sam’s Club locations nationwide and online. Although these products have been recalled and should no longer be available for sale, the FDA advises consumers and retailers to remain vigilant due to the product’s potentially long shelf life.
Distributors and retailers who received the implicated moringa leaf powder from Vallon Farmdirect are instructed not to use, sell, or distribute any products or ingredients from the specified lot. Consumers and retailers are also advised to thoroughly clean and sanitize any surfaces or containers that may have come into contact with the recalled products to prevent cross-contamination. Individuals experiencing symptoms of Salmonella infection after consuming any of the recalled products should seek medical attention from their healthcare provider.
