The blaze, which engulfed a large chicken house, resulted in an estimated $300,000 in damages to the structure and its contents. Fortunately, no injuries or deaths were reported, and no occupants were displaced.

The fire was reported around 2:10 a.m. on November 22, 2025, at a property located at 3012 Barclay Road. The structure involved was identified as a chicken house measuring approximately 60 feet by 600 feet. A passerby discovered the fire and alerted authorities by calling 911. The Sudlersville Volunteer Fire Company was the primary responding department, with approximately 50 firefighters working to bring the incident under control. It took about 1.5 hours to achieve control of the flames.
The area of origin for the fire has been preliminarily determined to be within the interior of the chicken house. The cause of the fire remains under active investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office. The building was unoccupied at the time of the incident, meaning no chickens were harmed. The property is owned by Manahil LLC. No smoke alarms or fire alarm/sprinkler systems were present in the structure.
