Approximately 650 Model Year 2025 Spartan SRT-XD and KGZ-XD riding lawn mowers are being recalled due to a potential crash hazard stemming from incorrectly installed steering arm dampers. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), this issue can lead to unexpected bouncing and a loss of operator control.

The recall affects zero-turn radius (ZRT) riding lawn mowers with specific model and serial number ranges. Consumers who own these mowers are advised to immediately cease using them. The affected mowers are described as gray, black, and orange with “Spartan” branding on the front. Model and serial numbers can be found on a metal plate located on the mower’s frame, in front of the operator’s feet. The recall number is 26-103.

Spartan Mowers and UTVs, based in Batesville, Arkansas, has received 15 reports detailing unexpected bouncing of the mowers during operation. These reports include one incident that resulted in minor injuries, such as scrapes and bruises.

To address the hazard, Spartan Mowers is offering a free repair service. Owners of affected mowers should contact an authorized Spartan dealer to schedule an appointment for a free inspection and repair of the steering arm dampers at the dealership. To confirm if a specific mower is part of the recall, consumers will need the mower’s model and serial number and can visit a dedicated recall information page on the Spartan Mowers website. The company also provides a dealer locator on its website to help customers find authorized service centers.

These recalled riding mowers were sold nationwide through Spartan dealers between February 2025 and October 2025, with prices ranging from approximately $16,400 to $19,700. Consumers can reach Spartan Mowers directly by calling 855-307-0933 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday, or by emailing service@spartanmowers.com. Further information is available on the company’s website.
