The recalled product is the Scotch Thermal Laminator, model number TL909-50. These laminators are described as light gray and white with gray accents, and the word “Scotch” is printed in gray on the front. The laminating slot measures approximately nine inches wide. Consumers can identify if their specific unit is part of the recall by checking the model and serial number located on a sticker on the bottom of the laminator. Only units with serial numbers ranging from 2406000001 to 2501001920 are affected by this recall. These units were sold nationwide in stores and online by retailers such as Office Depot, Office Smart, and School Specialty, Inc. The purchase period for these affected laminators was from August 2024 to September 2025, with a retail price between $100 and $130.

Consumers who have purchased one of the recalled Scotch thermal laminators are advised to immediately stop using the device and unplug it from the power source. To receive a full refund, customers must contact the 3M Company. The process involves completing a short form, confirming that the laminator is part of the recall, and providing photographic proof that the machine’s power cord has been cut. Upon verification of this information, a refund will be issued in the form of a check mailed to the consumer. No incidents or injuries related to this overheating issue have been reported to date.
