The tour will begin at the Thomas Balch Library parking lot and is expected to last approximately two hours. Attendees are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes, dress warmly, and bring a bottle of water, as the event will be conducted outdoors. The region, Loudoun County, was established in the 1750s and its settlers came from various areas, including Pennsylvania and long-established parts of Tidewater Virginia. Gillespie, a former county history teacher and Historian Emeritus for the Virginia Piedmont Heritage Area Association, will guide participants through the historical significance of the area during this pivotal period in American history.

Due to limited capacity, only 50 spots are available for the tour, and pre-registration is mandatory. Interested individuals can secure their spot by calling 703-737-7195, emailing balchlib@leesburgva.gov, or registering online through the Town of Leesburg’s official channels. The town has also indicated that this popular historical walking tour will be offered again in the spring of 2026, providing another opportunity for residents and visitors to explore Leesburg’s Revolutionary War past.
