A man from Accokeek, Maryland, has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison for his role in distributing fentanyl, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland. The sentence, handed down by District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow, also includes three years of supervised release. The sentencing follows a federal jury’s guilty verdict earlier this year, which found the defendant knowingly and intentionally distributed the controlled substance on four separate occasions between January 2022 and September 2022.

Evidence presented during a six-day trial indicated that the Accokeek man, identified as OJ Rashad Green, also known as “Ice,” used his residence as a hub for fentanyl distribution. Law enforcement officials arrested Green after a series of controlled purchases, which helped establish the extent of his operations. Prosecutors further detailed at the sentencing hearing that Green was responsible for distributing a significant quantity of fentanyl over several years. The investigation also revealed that Green managed an extensive distribution network, operating both within and beyond the Accokeek area. A disturbing aspect of his operation involved exploiting individuals struggling with fentanyl addiction, enlisting them to test drugs and act as couriers. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland, in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Washington Division, the Baltimore Police Department (BPD), and the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS), announced the sentence. The investigation was lauded by U.S. Attorney Kelly O. Hayes, with commendations extended to the DEA and the Charles County Sheriff’s Office for their contributions. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Darren S. Gardner and Brooke Oki were recognized for their prosecution of the case.
