The shooting incident involved indiscriminate firing at the ICE building, including a van located in the sallyport. The assault resulted in three detainees being shot; two of these individuals have died, and the third remains in critical condition. The perpetrator, who was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, had left behind shell casings inscribed with anti-ICE messages, indicating a deliberate and targeted attack on law enforcement.
This incident is not the first to affect the Dallas ICE facility. Last month, the same location received a bomb threat. On that occasion, a 36-year-old U.S. citizen, identified as Bratton Dean Wilkinson, approached the facility’s entrance and claimed to be carrying a bomb in his backpack. He also displayed what he described as a “detonator.” The security officer at the time initiated a shelter-in-place order and contacted emergency services. Local law enforcement and a bomb squad responded, and Wilkinson was taken into custody by local authorities. He was subsequently charged with making terroristic threats.
In a subsequent update, DHS provided a correction to earlier information regarding the casualties. As of 2:30 pm local time in Dallas, one detainee had died, and two others were reported to be in critical condition.
