Approximately 21,690 Ambiano Cotton Candy makers sold at ALDI are being recalled due to a fire hazard, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The recalled units, model number 836098, can ignite when the heating element causes sugar to catch fire, particularly if the product is used without its included sugar receptacle. The company has received 12 reports of sparking or fire incidents related to this hazard, though no injuries have been reported. Consumers who purchased these cotton candy makers are advised to cease using them immediately and to seek a refund.

The affected cotton candy makers feature a red or teal base with a clear plastic cover. The brand name “Ambiano” and the model number 836098 are printed on the product’s packaging and on the bottom of the unit itself. These items were sold nationwide at ALDI retail stores between August 2024 and September 2024 for approximately $15 each. The importer of the product is Wuensche USA, based in Chicago, Illinois, and the units were manufactured in China.
Consumers have two options to receive a full refund. They can return the intact cotton candy maker to any ALDI retail location. Alternatively, consumers can submit a photo of the cotton candy maker with its unplugged power cord cut, along with a separate photo clearly showing the model number 836098 and the date code 08/2024, via email to service@801service.net. For further assistance or questions regarding this recall, consumers can contact ALDI toll-free at (800) 325-7894 between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. They can also reach out through the ALDI contact form online at https://help.aldi.us/contact-form-product or by email directly to Wuensche USA at service@801service.net.
