Reimbursement for meals served under the CACFP is determined by household income information submitted through the CACFP Meal Benefit application. Eligibility for free meals is automatically extended to children who are in foster care, receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) benefits, or are enrolled in Head Start programs. Similarly, adult day care participants who are part of SNAP households or who receive Supplemental Security Income or Medicaid are also eligible for free meals.
The updated guidelines establish specific income thresholds based on household size. Residents seeking more detailed information about the CACFP or wishing to identify participating agencies within Maryland can contact the MSDE Office of School and Community Nutrition Programs directly at 410-767-0219.
