The case stems from incidents that took place in November 2022, when Hyman and two other individuals allegedly carried out a series of crimes. The sequence of events began on November 29, with the trio entering a 7-Eleven convenience store in East Baltimore. During this incident, they brandished a handgun and proceeded to rob the establishment, making off with cash from the register. Unknown to the perpetrators at the time, a money tracker was among the stolen items, which ultimately played a crucial role in the subsequent apprehension of the suspects.
Following the convenience store robbery, the money tracker indicated that the individuals proceeded to the Stokos carry-out restaurant, located approximately 0.6 miles away. At this second location, one of the co-conspirators reportedly brandished a handgun and accosted a delivery driver, taking the keys from his pocket. The group then proceeded to steal money from the restaurant’s cash register before fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement agencies, including the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) and the Baltimore County Police Department (BCPD), mobilized quickly in response to the incidents. Aviation units from both departments were instrumental in locating two vehicles that were observed moving in close proximity and matched the movements tracked by the stolen money. As officers attempted to intercept the vehicles, the suspects attempted to evade law enforcement. However, Hyman and his accomplices were ultimately apprehended. During the arrests, authorities recovered a loaded Smith & Wesson firearm. A co-defendant, Devin Grimes, had previously pleaded guilty and received a 10-year sentence for his role in these crimes.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a nationwide initiative designed to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve. The program aims to foster trust, support community-based violence prevention efforts, and implement strategic enforcement priorities.
