Smithsburg, MD – Residents and visitors alike are invited to experience a weekend of agricultural heritage and artisanal craftsmanship at the annual Smithsburg Steam Engine and Craft Show, scheduled for September 27 and September 28, 2025. This popular event, held at the Smithsburg Carnival Grounds located at 22 N. Main Street, promises a free admission experience that celebrates a bygone era of power and ingenuity.

The two-day showcase will feature a comprehensive array of antique steam engines, with live demonstrations offering a glimpse into their historical operation. Attendees can expect to see a variety of engines, including steam traction engines, tractors, and gas engines, alongside demonstrations of a working sawmill and shingle mill. Blacksmithing and straw bailing demonstrations will also be on hand, offering insights into traditional agricultural and craft processes. For those with a sweet tooth or a craving for classic comfort food, a variety of food vendors will be providing home-style cooking and concessions throughout the weekend. The event is also set to host a parade on Saturday at 5 p.m., a highlight for many attendees. While admission is free, parking is available by donation. The show is expected to draw approximately 14,000 attendees and will host 145 exhibitors. The event organizers have noted that art and craft vendor spots are available until they are filled. Organizers have requested that attendees leave their pets at home.
