Aston Martin The Americas is initiating a voluntary safety recall affecting 178 model year 2025 Aston Martin Vanquish vehicles manufactured for the U.S. market. The recall addresses a potential issue with the brake system’s vacuum pump, which, under specific circumstances, may fail to generate adequate vacuum. This could lead to reduced brake assistance, a firmer brake pedal feel, and potentially increase stopping distances, thereby raising the risk of a crash.

The defect stems from a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC), P050FFF, which can prevent the vacuum pump from functioning correctly. This specific DTC is triggered when the vacuum in the brake system drops below a certain threshold for an extended period, combined with vehicle movement or engine operation. While this condition has not resulted in any reported accidents or injuries to date, Aston Martin has identified that warning lights on the instrument panel, along with a harder brake pedal, may indicate the issue. The company’s investigation into this matter began in May 2025, following initial concerns raised about a vehicle in the Netherlands, with two additional instances reported subsequently.
Aston Martin’s technical and critical concerns review groups convened throughout the investigation to assess the technical data and the scope of the potential problem. Ultimately, the Recall Committee determined that a voluntary safety recall was necessary to address the potential defect and associated safety risks. To resolve the issue, Aston Martin will provide an update to the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) module software for all affected vehicles. This software update will eliminate the P050FFF DTC, which was reportedly carried over from an external OEM application and is not needed in the Vanquish. The updated software was implemented in production for model year 2026 vehicles starting July 10, 2025.
Owners of affected vehicles will be notified and advised to take their vehicles to an Aston Martin dealer for the complimentary software update. The repair procedure is estimated to take up to three hours, and additional software updates may be required. The company has stated that there is no time limit for owners to have this repair performed and that all costs associated with the remedy will be covered. Customers will be able to check if their vehicle is included in the recall by checking the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) starting August 25, 2025. Aston Martin plans to begin notifying customers with the remedy owner notification scheduled between September 8, 2025, and December 31, 2025, with a phased recall approach. A separate advisory suggests owners not drive or park their vehicles outside if the issue is suspected.
