The surge in applications comes as ICE has reportedly waived age limits for new recruits. This adjustment aims to broaden the pool of eligible candidates, allowing more individuals to participate in the agency’s operations. All prospective ICE law enforcement officers are subject to a rigorous selection process, which includes medical screening, drug testing, and a physical fitness evaluation. The agency is also highlighting the availability of significant federal law enforcement incentives for qualified applicants, funded by recent legislative measures. These benefits include a signing bonus of up to $50,000, options for student loan repayment and forgiveness, and additional pay incentives such as Law Enforcement Availability Pay for Homeland Security Investigations Special Agents and Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime for Enforcement and Removal Operations Deportation Officers. Enhanced retirement benefits are also being offered as part of the recruitment package.
