The investigation revealed that between January 2022 and February 2023, Bellucci and other individuals engaged in a conspiracy to distribute controlled substances across Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties. A critical element of the case involved an incident on December 18, 2022, where Bellucci sold pills containing a lethal dose of fentanyl to an individual, leading to that person’s death. At the time of this offense, Bellucci was employed as a correctional officer at a county facility. This prosecution is part of a broader federal initiative, Operation Take Back America, which aims to combat illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and safeguard communities from violent crime. The operation consolidates resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces and Project Safe Neighborhood. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Dunmore Police Department conducted the investigation into Bellucci’s activities.
