The product, manufactured by Jining Liexing Outdoor Products Co., Ltd. of China, has not been recalled, as the company has failed to cooperate with CPSC requests for corrective action. Approximately 58,700 pairs of the gloves were sold on Amazon.com between September 2019 and the present, priced between $9 and $140. The gloves, available in black, include a charger and carrying case and feature a battery stored in a zippered pocket at the glove base.

The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately remove the batteries and dispose of them through local hazardous waste collection procedures, not regular trash or curbside recycling. Improper disposal of lithium-ion batteries can lead to fire hazards. Local household hazardous waste (HHW) facilities may accept these batteries, but consumers are encouraged to contact their local agencies to confirm.

Those who have experienced a safety issue with these gloves are encouraged to report it to the CPSC at www.SaferProducts.gov. No formal recall is in place due to the manufacturer’s non-compliance, but the gloves remain a hazard, particularly for consumers who continue to use them unaware of the risk.
