The charges stem from a June 2, 2025, incident in which Dion allegedly attacked another inmate using a sharpened, broken wooden broom handle measuring approximately 13 inches. Prosecutors also say he was in possession of an additional improvised weapon—an 8-inch bent brush with exposed metal prongs. Both items are considered contraband under federal prison regulations.

If convicted, Dion faces up to 10 years in prison in addition to any current sentence he is serving, as well as possible fines and supervised release following incarceration. Sentencing would be determined by a judge based on federal sentencing guidelines and other legal considerations. The case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robin Zenzinger, with investigative support from the FBI and the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
