Per a release from NASA Headquarters, the agency has launched its 2025-2026 Software Catalog, offering more than 1,200 downloadable programs created by NASA engineers. The initiative is intended to help businesses, academic researchers, and innovators speed up development, cut costs, and bring advanced technology into commercial use across multiple industries.

The catalog, the only one of its kind in the federal government, is organized into 15 categories, including tools for satellite constellation design, public safety risk analysis for launch vehicles, aircraft modeling, and 3D rendering for virtual simulations. These resources are designed not just for aerospace professionals but also for sectors such as automotive, logistics, and energy—any field that can benefit from cutting-edge software created for space and flight missions.
To promote the use and understanding of these tools, NASA will host a series of summer webinars beginning July 22. Each session will feature in-depth walkthroughs of software capabilities in areas like mission planning, propulsion analysis, and systems design, followed by live Q&A segments. Some programs, including GPS accuracy enhancements and electrical power system simulations, are especially popular across both public and private sectors.

Since the program’s inception in 2013, annual downloads have steadily increased, with recent years seeing thousands of downloads. While most of the software is openly available, certain programs carry access restrictions, such as being limited to U.S. citizens or government use. The catalog is part of NASA’s broader Technology Transfer initiative and is continuously updated to streamline access and functionality.
