The recall affects 969 vehicles manufactured between March 10, 2024, and June 17, 2025, at a Polestar facility in China. The defect lies in a faulty inline connector located between the front bumper and engine bay wiring harnesses. Improper sealing during production allows water to enter the connector, which can corrode electrical contacts and cause critical systems to fail during vehicle start-up. Symptoms may include inability to start the car, loss of power steering, a stuck parking brake, or error messages from pedestrian safety systems and parking assistance features.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued the recall under number 25V453, with Polestar internally referencing the issue as RP1063. Vehicle owners are advised not to drive the affected vehicles and to park them outside until repairs are completed. The company has begun notifying dealers and will start informing vehicle owners on August 29, 2025. Polestar will replace the faulty harnesses and connectors with components manufactured to the correct specifications at no charge.
Owners who previously paid for related repairs may be eligible for reimbursement through Polestar’s customer support program. Vehicle identification numbers will be searchable starting July 14, 2025, to confirm whether a vehicle is affected by the recall.
