The affected product, sold in 40-pound Payback-branded bags, bears the lot number M#134300 with a label date of 02/14/25. It was produced at the CHS facility in Great Falls, Montana. The recall follows a customer report suggesting that the feed might have contributed to illness or death in animals, prompting the company to launch an investigation and voluntarily remove the product from the market.
Copper toxicity in sheep can be fatal within days, with warning signs such as loss of appetite, teeth grinding, pale or yellow mucous membranes, dark-colored urine, and lethargy. Livestock owners whose animals show any of these symptoms after consuming the product are advised to seek veterinary assistance immediately.

Only the lot listed above is affected, and no other CHS-manufactured feed products from the same facility are involved in the recall. Customers who purchased the recalled feed should stop using it and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. CHS has set up an email contact at ANProducts@chsinc.com for additional questions.
