A gunman opened fire outside the United States Border Patrol (USBP) sector annex in McAllen, Texas, early Monday, injuring three law enforcement personnel before being fatally shot by officers. The attack could have led to greater tragedy if not for the swift response of local police and federal agents.

The shooter, preliminarily identified as Ryan Louis Mosqued, approached the annex entrance and began firing. A McAllen police officer suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, while a Border Patrol officer and a Border Patrol employee were also injured. All three were hospitalized in non-critical condition. The suspect was neutralized on the scene by responding officers, preventing further casualties.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Professional Responsibility in coordination with the FBI. Authorities are examining the motive and any potential affiliations or prior warnings associated with the shooter.
