According to a report submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue stems from a defect in the suspension strut assembly. A retaining ring may become loose or dislodged due to improper fitting during production, potentially causing air loss in the vehicle’s pneumatic spring. If this occurs, it could lead to reduced ride comfort, a visible drop in ride height, and compromised handling. While the estimated percentage of vehicles with the defect is only 2%, Audi has initiated a recall out of an abundance of caution.
The affected vehicles were built between March 12 and March 28, 2025, and all contain components sourced from a specific production window. The root cause was traced to a misalignment in the dome bearing cover, which prevented the retaining ring from securing properly, compounded by a skipped gauge test during quality control. Vehicles manufactured after April 2, 2025, are not affected due to the implementation of an automatic gauge inspection system.

Audi will notify vehicle owners by August 22, 2025. Owners are advised not to drive the vehicle or to park it outside until the issue is resolved. Dealers will inspect the suspension and replace the faulty components if necessary at no cost. Because the vehicles remain under warranty, Audi will not provide reimbursement for any related expenses. Drivers will be alerted to the issue via a warning message in the instrument cluster and a noticeable lowering of one side of the vehicle.
Vehicle owners can begin checking their VINs for recall status as of June 25, 2025.
