The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued the warning after determining that when the bed rails are installed next to a mattress, children can become trapped in the gap between the rail and the mattress, risking suffocation or serious injury. The manufacturer, Shenzhen Hemao Tiancheng E-Commerce Co. Ltd. of China, operating under the brand Talenmelen, has not cooperated with authorities to initiate a recall or offer consumers a remedy.
The gray bed rails, which were sold in packs of one to three for $84 to $150, feature a steel frame with adjustable height ranging from 27 to 38 inches. They are marked with the brand name “Talenmelen” on the fabric and model number “0001a” on a white stitched label. Some units may also have been distributed by third-party sellers on other websites, further broadening potential exposure.
