According to the CPSC, the game contains small, high-powered magnets that exceed permissible strength limits and fit within a size considered hazardous for children. If ingested, the magnets can attract to each other through internal organs, causing serious medical conditions such as intestinal perforation, twisting or blockage, infection, and potentially fatal outcomes. Despite a Notice of Violation issued to the U.S. distributor, Lexibook America Inc. of New York, the company has not agreed to recall the product or offer consumers any remedy.
The product was sold primarily on Amazon from February 2024 through May 2025 for prices ranging from $15 to $20 and may have also been available on other websites. The toy includes a wooden cat-shaped frame, 10 colored wooden fish with metal tips, and two magnetic fishing rods. The magnets embedded in the lures can detach easily, adding to the hazard.

CPSC strongly advises consumers not to resell, donate, or give away this product and to safely dispose of it to prevent further exposure. Parents or caregivers who suspect any injury or incident related to the toy should report it at www.SaferProducts.gov. As the toy was manufactured in China and distributed without a recall plan in place, enforcement and safety efforts now fall on consumer awareness and action.
