In response to an increased volume of applications, the City of Frederick has scheduled two separate Planning Commission hearings for June, both to be held at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Boardroom at 101 N Court Street. The additional session aims to accommodate the high number of projects awaiting review and maintain timely decision-making. We know you value local news and entertainment that is free, open, and independent. Producing high-quality, paywall-free content isn't free. It takes time, effort, and resources to keep you informed and entertained. Unlike corporate media, we don’t have deep-pocketed investors or big advertisers funding our work—we rely on you, our readers and listeners, to keep Radio Free Hub City running. We're literally running on a shoe-string budget, but keep working hard to provide as much news and entertainment as we can.
If just 5% of local area residents became paid supporters at only $5 per month, we could meet our fundraising goals and continue expanding our news coverage depth while continuing to provide free access for everyone. So, if you'd like to help us in our continuing quest to improve our coverage, please consider becoming a paying supporter.
Will you be one of the 5%?
Thank you for supporting Radio Free Hub City!
The first hearing is set for Monday, June 9, with the second following on Monday, June 16. Residents and stakeholders can access the respective agendas through the City of Frederick’s official website. These hearings are part of the city’s ongoing efforts to provide transparent and accessible governance as it addresses a growing list of development applications.
In addition to the Planning Commission meetings, the Citywide Planning Department has rescheduled its monthly Community Outreach Meeting. Typically held on the third Monday, the meeting will take place instead on Monday, June 23, at 6 p.m., also in the City Hall Boardroom. Preparatory materials will be made available online one week prior to the session to allow residents ample time to review and prepare questions or comments.

We didn't pick our name by accident. While other outlets are proud to be government 'Partners,' we are proud to be exactly what our namesake requires: Free from government influence, and free from government censorship. We don't lock our news behind a paywall, will you help us keep it that way? If you're tired of news sweetened with confirmation bias that never questions the 'official story', consider becoming a monthly supporter. Just $5/month helps fund our local reporting, live election night coverage, and more.
City officials encourage interested parties to review the posted agendas and participate in the meetings. For further inquiries or additional details, individuals may contact Jennifer Van de Griek by email at jgriek@cityoffrederickmd.gov or by phone at (301) 600-1499.
