The app targets the issue known as the “Summer Slide,” a decline in reading skills that can cause students to lose the equivalent of two years of learning by middle school. Designed for students from Pre-K through sixth grade, the app enables parents to create personalized monthly reading goals based on their child’s abilities. Achieving these goals each month from June through August allows children to receive a free Personal Pan Pizza® at participating locations.
Pizza Hut’s latest initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize its long-standing BOOK IT! program, which has encouraged reading since 1984. The program has reached over 70 million children, offering more than 1.5 billion free Personal Pan Pizzas® in its history.
