A Baltimore man has pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking charges after repeatedly selling narcotics and a loaded AR-style pistol to undercover federal agents over the course of several months in 2024. The plea stems from a series of transactions in which the defendant distributed large quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine, while also providing agents with a privately made, unserialized firearm.

Derrick Nutter, 40, admitted in federal court that he conspired to distribute controlled substances and sold narcotics on multiple occasions. His dealings with undercover agents began on June 12, 2024, when he sold cocaine, methamphetamine, and a sample of fentanyl. Just over a week later, he sold fentanyl and cocaine again, along with an unserialized 5.56 caliber AR-style pistol that was loaded with ammunition and equipped with a sight optic. The fentanyl later tested as ortho-Methylfentanyl, a Schedule I analogue.

Investigators expanded their probe in the weeks that followed. Nutter sold drugs to a second undercover agent on June 25 and August 22. During these interactions, he referenced receiving additional drugs through the mail, later traced to co-conspirator Khristina Williams. Authorities confirmed her involvement when she was observed accompanying Nutter during a drug sale on September 3. On that occasion, Nutter sold over 200 grams of methamphetamine. One week later, he sold another half-kilogram of methamphetamine and nearly 800 fentanyl pills, many of which he retrieved directly from Williams’ vehicle.

Nutter’s final transaction took place on October 3, 2024, when he delivered over 800 grams of methamphetamine to undercover agents in a public parking lot before being arrested. In total, authorities recovered approximately 1,595 grams of methamphetamine, 298 grams of cocaine, 90 grams of fentanyl, 85 grams of a fentanyl analogue, and the loaded AR-style weapon over the course of the investigation.

Nutter is scheduled for sentencing on September 17, where he faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison. The case was handled under the Justice Department’s Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, which coordinates local, state, and federal law enforcement to reduce gun violence and other violent crime in communities across the nation.
