A brand of adult portable bed rails has been pulled from the market after failing to meet federal safety regulations, prompting concerns about the potential for serious injury or death. The recalled product, the LivingCaring Adult Portable Bed Rails, poses a significant entrapment risk, particularly when attached to beds. Regulators found that users could become trapped within the rail itself or between the rail and the mattress, with the possibility of asphyxiation. The rails also lacked required warning labels designed to alert users to such hazards.

Roughly 280 units of the product were sold online between May 2024 and March 2025 through Amazon and the LivingCaring website. Manufactured in China and imported by Shanghai Kai Rong Xin Xi Ke Ji Co. Ltd., the adjustable white metal rails include black foam handles and come with a storage bag and a magnetic motion sensor light. They are marketed for adult use, with dimensions ranging from 29 to 41 inches in width and 30 to 37 inches in height.
Despite the risks identified in the recall, no injuries or incidents have been reported to date. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) highlighted that the bed rails violated federal regulations by not including mandated hazard warnings and by presenting a design flaw that could lead to fatal consequences. The issue lies in the space created between the rail and the mattress, where a user’s body could become trapped.
