The first recall, filed under NHTSA No. 25V-221, involves 9,735 Porsche Taycan vehicles manufactured between January 2022 and March 2023. These vehicles may have defective seat sensors due to an improperly executed crimp connection in the seat cushion heating mat. This defect can trigger a fail-safe mode in the occupant classification system, resulting in the deactivation of the front passenger airbag. If the warning indicators are ignored, the airbag may not deploy during a crash, significantly increasing the risk of injury. Porsche will replace the front passenger seat cushion with an updated version that includes a more robust crimp connection.

The second recall, identified as NHTSA No. 25V-220, affects 8,571 units of the 2024–2025 Porsche Macan Electric. A software issue in these SUVs can prevent the rearview camera from activating when the reverse gear is engaged. Additionally, some units may suffer from poor camera housing bonds that allow moisture intrusion, leading to blurred or missing images. These problems violate federal rear visibility standards and pose a heightened risk to pedestrians. Porsche will reprogram the software on all affected vehicles and inspect or replace cameras where needed.

Both recalls are scheduled to begin owner notifications on June 6, 2025. The affected vehicles remain under warranty, and no reimbursement for prior repairs will be issued. Porsche has already addressed the manufacturing issues in ongoing production by implementing software updates and improved assembly processes.
