The incident took place on April 9, shortly after 3 p.m., when the 32-year-old man attempted to enter the United States from Mexico. A CBP officer noticed unusual features in the bicycle’s construction during a preliminary inspection and directed the individual for a more thorough examination. A narcotics detection dog subsequently alerted officers to the presence of drugs, prompting further investigation.

Using non-intrusive scanning equipment, CBP officers identified suspicious bundles within the bike frame. Upon dismantling the bicycle, they recovered two separate packages: one containing approximately 0.18 pounds of fentanyl, and another with about 0.40 pounds of methamphetamine.
