The victim, identified as 49-year-old Fred Eromosele Ehimen, was driving a Toyota Camry that was struck head-on by a 2013 Ford Explorer traveling in the wrong direction on the ramp. Ehimen was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel. The driver of the Ford Explorer, a 17-year-old male from Baltimore, was transported by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Two passengers in the Explorer, a 13-year-old and a 16-year-old, were also injured and taken to local hospitals by ambulance.
Further investigation revealed that the Ford Explorer had been reported stolen. Prior to the crash, Frederick County Sheriff’s Deputies had been involved in a pursuit with the vehicle, which was later joined by the Howard County Police Department. The pursuit was terminated several miles before the collision occurred.
