Henkel Capital S.A. de C.V. has announced a voluntary recall of 1,068 units of its Tec Italy Shampoo Totale after microbiological testing detected contamination with Klebsiella oxytoca, a bacterium that can cause infections in the eyes, nose, and skin. The affected shampoo, distributed in the United States primarily through distributors in New York and California, may also have reached other states and was sold at the retail level. Consumers with compromised immune systems are particularly vulnerable to potential adverse reactions.

The recalled product is packaged in a 33.81 fl. oz. (1 L) green plastic bottle, marked with Lot # 1G27542266 on the side of the bottle, and has a UPC code of 7501438375850. To date, no injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with the product. However, consumers who experience any symptoms are advised to seek medical attention. Those who have purchased the affected shampoo should stop using it immediately and return it to the original place of purchase for a full refund.
Henkel initiated the recall after identifying the bacterial contamination through routine microbiological analysis. The company is conducting this recall in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which posted the announcement as part of its public service efforts. Henkel has assured customers that minimizing inconvenience and ensuring customer satisfaction are top priorities.
