The affected product is the MagSafe Wireless Power Pack Portable Power Bank, designed for use with MagSafe-compatible phones and earphones. Each unit has a capacity of 5,000 mAh and features “Velvet Caviar” engraved on the front and printed on the back. The model number ZHX-PB21 and PO numbers ranging from PO-PP001 to PO-PP010 appear on the back. Units lacking a PO number are also included in the recall.
Consumers are urged to stop using the power banks immediately. VC Group is offering a free replacement for affected products, provided users submit a photo of their unit with “Recalled” written on it. There have been 19 reported incidents of the product overheating or catching fire, including 10 minor injuries. The recalled power banks were sold online exclusively through velvetcaviar.com and Amazon.com between November 2022 and October 2024 for approximately $65. Manufactured in China, the products were distributed by VC Group based in Brooklyn, New York.
