Ford Motor Company has issued a safety recall for 35,328 Lincoln Navigator vehicles from model years 2015 to 2017 due to a potential fire risk. The recall, assigned NHTSA Recall No. 25V-091 and Manufacturer Recall No. 25S08, addresses a defect in the LED logo lamps within the exterior mirror assemblies that could result in an electrical short and increase the risk of fire.

The defect arises from improper adhesion of the potting material to the wire terminals of the LED logo lamps, allowing water or conductive fluid to penetrate the printed circuit board. Over time, this can cause corrosion and potentially lead to a short circuit. The issue is compounded by incorrect short detection parameters, which were not updated from a prior model’s incandescent lamp system. There are no known warnings or alerts that drivers may experience before the failure occurs.
The recall remedy involves Ford or Lincoln dealers cutting and disconnecting the power wire to the LED logo lamp, eliminating the short circuit risk. This service will be provided free of charge. Ford will also reimburse owners who previously paid for related repairs, in line with the recall reimbursement plan filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in May 2023.
