Triangle Tube has issued a recall for approximately 60,000 gas boilers in the United States and 7,500 in Canada due to a serious carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning risk. The recall includes Prestige Solo, Prestige Excellence, and Aerco Esteem condensing gas boilers, which can release CO because of delayed ignitions or damaged components. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall following reports of two deaths and multiple CO leaks linked to the affected products.

The recall follows two reported fatalities from CO poisoning. In 2015, a 47-year-old woman died due to a Prestige Solo 175 boiler, and in 2016, an 85-year-old man passed away after exposure to CO from a Prestige Solo TriMax 175 boiler following a repair. Triangle Tube has also received 25 reports of CO leaks associated with the recalled boilers. The affected units were manufactured in Belgium by Burnsen SA between December 2011 and April 2019 and were sold through wholesale distributors nationwide for prices ranging from $3,400 to $9,700.
Consumers with recalled units should immediately contact Triangle Tube for a free boiler inspection and, if necessary, a free installation of a new ignition system. Those continuing to use the boilers while awaiting repairs are advised to have working CO alarms on every level of their homes and outside sleeping areas. Consumers without a CO alarm can request a free one from Triangle Tube.
