CBP officers flagged the shipment during routine inspections, determining that the necessary importation documentation was not properly filed. As a result, the engines were confiscated and handed over to Homeland Security Investigations for further review.

CBP officials emphasized the importance of vigilance in screening imported goods, ensuring compliance with trade laws and protecting U.S. businesses and consumers. The Office of Field Operations, responsible for overseeing border security at ports of entry, routinely inspects incoming cargo for illegal items such as counterfeit goods, narcotics, and other prohibited materials that could pose risks to public safety and the economy.
