U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Express Consignment Facility recently intercepted a shipment containing 1,134 fraudulent gas engines. The engines, originating from China, were seized on January 23 due to improper documentation. The shipment, valued at approximately $1.34 million, consisted of 42 pallets, each carrying 27 engines, intended for distribution to various businesses across the United States.

CBP officers flagged the shipment during routine inspections, determining that the necessary importation documentation was not properly filed. As a result, the engines were confiscated and handed over to Homeland Security Investigations for further review.
CBP officials emphasized the importance of vigilance in screening imported goods, ensuring compliance with trade laws and protecting U.S. businesses and consumers. The Office of Field Operations, responsible for overseeing border security at ports of entry, routinely inspects incoming cargo for illegal items such as counterfeit goods, narcotics, and other prohibited materials that could pose risks to public safety and the economy.
