Authorities are investigating a large fire that broke out at Calloway Family Farm in Mardela Springs, Wicomico County, on Wednesday. The blaze, which started around midday, engulfed two large buildings along with farm equipment and vehicles, resulting in an estimated $2 million in damages. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters from Mardela Springs and surrounding areas responded to the scene, battling the flames for over two hours before bringing them under control. A total of 50 firefighters and two alarms were needed to contain the fire. The property was not equipped with smoke alarms, fire alarms, or a sprinkler system.
The farm owner was the first to discover the fire and alerted authorities. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, with Deputy State Fire Marshals currently examining the scene. Several hot spots are being extinguished to allow investigators to safely continue their work.
