The trailer, which has not been permanently occupied since 2003, was known to have been used as a shelter by squatters. There were no smoke alarms or fire suppression systems in place at the time of the incident. The fire was discovered by a neighbor, and the Oldtown Volunteer Fire Department responded with 35 firefighters and two alarms, managing to control the blaze in about 20 minutes.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The fire originated inside the trailer, but further details are pending. Authorities have requested assistance from the public in providing any relevant information.
